What is a Race Awning?
A race awning is a strong frame-based structure used by race teams in a motorsport paddock to cover the vehicles when they are being worked upon between races or sessions. They are enclosed structures that provide privacy from crowds and competitors, although truckside awnings are often open at one end to allow vehicles to get in and out with ease.
These race awnings differ from our range of pop up motorsport gazebos in that they use the same industrial strength framework as pre-fab steel buildings, combined with a super-robust PVC covering. The covers are customisable to allow for team logos, sponsor branding, or on-brand colour schemes. They are supplied in four standard sizes, with curtain-rail sidewalls that allow openings wherever you require them.
Gala Performance does offer fully bespoke structures that include doors, windows and bespoke frame-shaping, so we recommend that you get in touch if you have something out of the ordinary in mind.
Robust aluminium race awning with thick PVC covers
The MQ-65 Race Awning is manufactured using an extremely robust T6061 aluminium in the framework, with up to 65mm wide posts (hence the name, MQ-65) in the legs and roof section. The thick, up-to-650gsm PVC of the customisable covers is wipe-clean, meaning it's fresh each time you unpack it at the race circuit, and the sidewalls fix to the framework using a thick Kador strip, which slides into the grooves of the posts. This means that the walls are taut at all times.
A great advancement in this race awning means that should you wish to open any side of the tent, you can simply unzip one wall from the next and open them using curtain-style clips at the top, attached to the eave of the frame. Make no mistake, this is a seriously heavyweight, professional race awning.
A Race Awning with clear span design
All of our freestanding race awnings use super-robust framework, whether they're small or large width tents.
This means that there are no obstructions in and around the awning, whether in the roof section or with supporting legs inside the structure.
We achieve this by using the highest quality T6061 aluminium extrusions, which are similar to the beams and posts you'll find in pre-fabricated buildings. We never compromise on the quality of our constructions.

Our race awnings are all fully manufactured to order, which means that you can have team or sponsor branding across any part of the tent. Want simple branding? We can do it. Want on-brand flashes of colour across the walls of your race awning? We can do it.
Equally, we understand that a simple, function white race awning is absolutely fine, as sponsors can change year on year, and some teams would rather keep it clean and simple.
